Browserbase is cloud browser infrastructure built for developers, with the Stagehand SDK and the Director agent builder. Prompteryx offers a cloud browser API too, and adds a drag-and-drop workflow canvas, a chat that runs AI browser agents, your own Chrome through Prompteryx Desktop, and actions in 3,000+ apps.
Facts about Browserbase checked on 25 October 2026 from its own website and documentation. Sources are at the end of the page.
Browserbase runs headless and headed browsers in the cloud for AI agents and automation. Developers drive them through its Browser API and the open-source Stagehand SDK (TypeScript, Python and Go), which turns plain-English instructions into browser actions. Director lets people describe a task in plain English, turns it into an agent, can repeat it on a timetable and exports it as Stagehand code. Browserbase also offers Functions (code deployed and called as an API), an Agents API, a Model Gateway that puts AI model usage on the same bill, a hosted MCP server, and four cloud regions.
Visual Studio is a drag-and-drop canvas with 80+ browser actions plus AI, logic and app steps. You can record a task once and edit every step. Browserbase's Director builds agents from plain-English descriptions and exports code; it does not have a step-by-step canvas you edit visually.
The Prompteryx Developer plan ($20 a month) includes 200 cloud-browser hours, billed by the second. Browserbase's Developer plan ($20 a month) includes 100 browser-hours, then $0.12 an hour, billed by the minute with a one-minute minimum (Browserbase pricing, checked 25 October 2026).
With Prompteryx Desktop (Windows, beta) the agent works in your own Chrome profile, so it can use sites where you are already signed in, including ones with two-factor log-ins. Browserbase's hosted browsers run in the cloud; Stagehand can also start a local Chromium for development.
Workflows can mix browser steps with actions in 3,000+ apps such as Gmail, Google Sheets, Slack and Notion (Connect Hub, on the Starter and Pro plans). Browserbase connects to agent frameworks and offers an MCP server, but does not have a library of app connectors.

Browserbase is a mature, developer-first cloud browser platform, and it is a strong choice if your team builds browser automation in code. Prompteryx covers the same cloud browser basics with more browser-hours on the $20 plan and per-second billing, and adds what non-developers need: a visual canvas, a chat-driven AI agent, your own logged-in Chrome and actions in 3,000+ apps. Many teams use Prompteryx's API for code and its canvas for everyone else.
For most cloud browser jobs, yes. Prompteryx cloud browser sessions give you a CDP endpoint you can drive with your own Playwright or Puppeteer code, and the migration guide (prompteryx.ai/docs/cloud-browser-migration) maps the common calls. Some Browserbase products, such as Functions, the Go SDK and multi-region browsers, have no direct equivalent today.
Yes. Prompteryx has a REST API, a TypeScript SDK, a CLI and an MCP server. Engineers can create cloud browser sessions and drive them with their own code, or trigger any saved no-code workflow by API, so engineers and non-engineers work on the same platform.
Checked on 25 October 2026: Prompteryx Developer costs $20 a month and includes 200 cloud-browser hours billed by the second, 1 GB of residential proxy data and 100 CAPTCHA solves. Browserbase Developer costs $20 a month and includes 100 browser-hours (then $0.12 an hour) billed by the minute with a one-minute minimum, 1 GB of proxy data and CAPTCHA solving. Short, frequent runs benefit most from per-second billing: a 10-second check counts as one minute on per-minute billing.
Yes. With Prompteryx Desktop (Windows; macOS is coming) the agent works in your own Chrome profile, with the sites you are already signed in to. You can also keep persistent cloud profiles when you prefer to run in the cloud.
Browserbase runs browsers in four regions, offers Stagehand in TypeScript, Python and Go, has Functions for deploying browser code as an API, and offers enterprise plans with HIPAA and SSO. If you only need SDK-driven cloud browsers for a code project, it is a strong option.
