Zapier is the easiest way to connect apps that have APIs, with the largest app catalogue there is. Prompteryx is for the steps Zapier can't reach: websites, supplier portals and web forms, done by an AI agent in a real browser. The two can work together through Prompteryx's REST API and webhooks.
Facts about Zapier checked on 25 October 2026 from its own website and documentation. Sources are at the end of the page.
Zapier is an automation platform that connects more than 9,000 apps through their APIs. You build Zaps in an editor that shows the whole flow as a diagram, with branching Paths, looping, filters, delays and formatters, plus AI by Zapier steps, Copilot, Chatbots, Tables, Forms, Interfaces, Canvas and an MCP server on every plan. Only successful action steps count as tasks. Zapier's agents can read public web pages and search the web, and its Web Parser extracts page content, but Zapier does not run a browser that clicks buttons and fills in forms on websites; for that it relies on partner apps.
Prompteryx runs a real Chrome browser that clicks, types, uploads, downloads and reads pages, so it can automate portals, legacy systems and any website. Zapier works through app APIs; browser automation comes from partner apps you connect to it.
With Prompteryx Desktop (Windows, beta) the agent uses your own Chrome profile, so it can work in sites you are already signed in to. Zapier's agents can visit public pages but don't use your logged-in browser sessions.
Describe a website task in the chat and watch the AI Browser Agent do it step by step; cloud runs are recorded as video. Save a successful run as a workflow and it replays without AI costs.
A Zap can start a Prompteryx browser workflow through the REST API (Webhooks by Zapier), and Prompteryx can send a signed webhook back to a Zap when the run finishes, so the result flows into the rest of the Zap.

Zapier is the best-known way to connect apps through their APIs, and if every step of your workflow has an API it is hard to beat. Prompteryx is for the steps that only have a website: portals, forms, scraping and anything behind a log-in, done by an AI agent in a real browser and repeatable without AI costs. The two can work together through webhooks.
For browser work, yes; for pure API-to-API automation, Zapier connects more apps. Prompteryx connects to 3,000+ apps through Connect Hub and automates websites directly. If you already rely on Zapier, your Zaps can start Prompteryx browser workflows through webhooks.
Not on its own. Zapier's agents can read public web pages and search the web, and Web Parser by Zapier extracts page content, but Zapier does not run a browser that clicks buttons or fills in forms. Browser automation in Zapier comes from partner apps such as Airtop or Browse AI.
Checked on 25 October 2026: Zapier counts tasks, and only successful action steps use them (triggers, filters, paths and formatters don't). The Free plan has 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps; Pro starts at $19.99 a month billed yearly for 750 tasks. Prompteryx plans start at $20 a month and include 3,000 workflow executions, AI Credits and cloud-browser hours, after a 7-day free trial.
Yes, through webhooks. A Zap can call the Prompteryx REST API (Webhooks by Zapier) to start a browser workflow, for example downloading a report from a supplier portal, and Prompteryx sends a signed webhook back to the Zap with the result. A dedicated Prompteryx app in Zapier's directory is not available yet.
