Groups
PilotGroup chats and direct messages where anyone can ask @Prompteryx to make something for everyone.
Pilot. Groups is switched on for a small number of accounts for now, and for people who are invited into a group. If it isn't on for your account, you won't see Groups in the sidebar.
Open Groups in the sidebar (on the phone app, the Groups button next to the menu). Start a group, or send someone a direct message. Anyone in the chat can write @Prompteryx and ask for a picture, a song, a video, a website, a document or a game, and it appears in the chat for everyone. Whoever asks pays from their own credits.
In a group
- @mentions: type @ to tag a member or @Prompteryx. People you mention get a notification, even if they muted the group.
- Edit on something @Prompteryx made: say what should change and it makes the next version of the same card.
- Share to a group: send anything from your main chat (pictures, video, audio, documents, replies) or a post from Explore to a group.
- Reactions with any emoji, and Markdown formatting in messages.
- Group settings: the group's name, description and colour, the model @Prompteryx uses for each kind of request (or Auto), mute, and how messages look.
Adding people
In the group, open People → Add members (on the phone: the group's info → Add members · invite link). There are three ways:
- People you know on Prompteryx: people you already share a chat with. Pick them and they are added.
- Group invite link: one link per group, the same every time. Copy it, or press Share on WhatsApp to send it straight to a WhatsApp chat (on the phone, the share sheet opens if WhatsApp isn't installed).
- By e-mail: type their e-mail address and press Invite.
People you don't share a chat with are never added directly: they get the link or an e-mail invitation and join themselves. Blocking hides a person either way.
In Group settings, admins choose All members (the default for new groups) or Only admins for adding people, sharing the link and inviting by e-mail.
Switch on Approve new members and anyone joining with the link, or added by a member who isn't an admin, waits until an admin presses Let in or Decline.
Any admin can Make admin, Dismiss as admin and Remove from group. The person who started the group can never be removed.
Anyone can leave. If the owner leaves, an admin (or the longest-standing member) takes over, so a group always has an admin.
The invite link and the join page
- Admins can Reset the link: the old one stops working at once. A new link can have an expiry, from 1 hour to 30 days, or none.
- Someone who opens the link sees a join page with only the group's name, its avatar, the first name of the person who invited them and how many members it has. They press Join with Google (or Sign in if they already have an account) and land in the group.
- If the link was reset or has expired, the page says so and asks them to get a new one.
- On a phone with the Prompteryx app, the link opens the app's own join screen.
- Groups are for people aged 18 and over. Members see your name and what you write.
While Prompteryx is getting ready to open, someone new who signs up from an invite joins the waiting list first (see Plans, credits and top-ups).
Invite a friend to Prompteryx
The Invite a friend to Prompteryx button on the Groups page writes a short WhatsApp message with your referral link (or the sign-up page when referrals aren't available to you). See Refer a friend.
