    Screenshot Node

    Browser Node

Capture screenshots of pages or specific elements

    Overview

The Screenshot node captures images of the current web page or specific elements. Screenshots are useful for documentation, visual verification, debugging, and creating evidence of automation runs.

    Parameters
    Configuration options for this node
    outputDirectory
    String

Output Directory — folder to save the file in. Leave empty to use the default: %AppData%/Prompteryx/captures (Windows) or ~/Library/Application Support/Prompteryx/captures (Mac).

    Example: C:/screenshots
    path
    String

File Name for the screenshot. The full path is shown in the node's output. An existing file is never overwritten — a number is added instead, e.g. screenshot(1).png.

    Default: screenshot.png
    fullPage
    Boolean

Capture the full scrollable page instead of just the visible viewport

    Default: false
    type
    Select

    Format: PNG or JPEG

    Default: png
    Cloud Browser runs
On a Cloud Browser the image isn't written to your computer — it's returned in the node's output (as dataUri and b64_json) so later nodes can use it.

    Screenshot Types

    Viewport Screenshot

Captures only the visible portion of the page (what you see in the browser window). This is the fastest option and produces the smallest file size.

The viewport size depends on your browser window size and any Set Viewport nodes in your workflow.
    Full Page Screenshot

Captures the entire scrollable page from top to bottom. Useful for documenting complete pages or capturing all content on long pages.

Full page screenshots can be very large for long pages. Consider using element screenshots for specific sections instead.
    Element Screenshot

Use the separate Screenshot Element node to capture a specific element on the page. The screenshot is cropped to the element's bounding box. Perfect for capturing specific components like product images, charts, or forms. It also has a Quality setting for JPEG images.

    Example selectors:#product-image, .chart-container, getByRole("img", {name: "Product"}

    Usage Examples

    Example 1: Document a Dashboard
Take a full page screenshot of a dashboard
    Full Page: On
    Format: PNG
    Output Directory:C:/reports
    File Name:dashboard.png
    Example 2: Capture Product Images
Screenshot specific product images for cataloging
    Node: Screenshot Element
    Selector:.product-gallery img:first-child
    Format: JPEG
    Quality: 85
    Example 3: Debugging Screenshot
Capture current state for debugging purposes
Full Page: Off (visible viewport only)
    Format: PNG
    File Name: debug.png

The full path of the saved file is shown in the node's output.

    Best Practices

    Use PNG for Quality
Use PNG format when you need pixel-perfect screenshots or screenshots with text. Use JPEG for photos or when file size is a concern.
    Wait Before Screenshot
Add a Wait node before taking screenshots to ensure all content, images, and animations have fully loaded. Wait for Navigation with Wait Until set to "Network Idle" works well after a page change.
    Use Variables in File Names
Existing files are never overwritten (a number is added), but identifiers in file names make captures easier to find. Example: product-{{productId}}.png
