Video Recording
FeatureRecord workflow executions for review and debugging
Overview
Video recording captures a visual record of your workflow execution. This is especially valuable for debugging headless runs, reviewing automation behavior, and maintaining audit trails.
Enabling Video Recording
In Visual Studio, recording is switched on from the toolbar:
- Click the “Video Recording Off” button in the toolbar so it reads “Video Recording On”
- Optionally open Settings (gear icon) → Video Recording for more options, such as applying the settings to all workflows, creating a merged video and the save location
- Run your workflow - video will be saved automatically
For the AI Browser Agent, the standing default lives in Settings → AI Browser Agent. With it on, cloud agent runs save an MP4 automatically, and the Schedule-an-Agent dialog pre-fills its per-schedule “Video recording” toggle from this default. Video recording is available on the Starter, Developer, Pro and Enterprise plans — not on the free trial.

Visible vs Headless Mode
Browser window is visible on screen.
- Great for development and debugging
- Can watch automation in real-time
- Video recording optional but useful for review
Browser runs in background, no visible window.
- Faster execution
- Doesn't interrupt your work
- Video recording essential for debugging
Viewing Recordings
Runs on your own Chrome (through Prompteryx Desktop):
- In Visual Studio, switch from Editor to History to see the workflow's executions
- Select the execution you want to review
- Click Watch Recording to open the video
Runs on the cloud browser are recorded as an MP4. After a run, a Cloud Recording button appears next to the run controls, and every recorded cloud session is also listed in Cloud Platform → Cloud Sessions, where you can filter by recording and watch the replay. A recording is ready once the session has ended.
