    Blur Element

    Browser Node

    Remove focus from an element

    Overview

The Blur Element node removes keyboard focus from an element. This triggers blur events, which many forms use for validation, data saving, or closing dropdowns.

    Parameters
    Configuration options for this node
    Selector
    Selector
    Required

The element to blur (remove focus from). Use the Selector Picker.

    Example: #email-input, .search-field, getByLabel('Username')
    Timeout
    Number

Maximum time to wait for the element in milliseconds

    Default: 30000

    When to Use

    Trigger Validation

Many forms validate inputs on blur. After filling a field, blur it to trigger validation before continuing to the next field.

    Close Dropdowns

Autocomplete dropdowns and menus often close when the input loses focus. Use Blur to close them after making a selection.

    Save Input Data

Some apps auto-save when you blur a field. Blur after filling to ensure the data is saved before proceeding.

    Usage Examples

    Example 1: Validate Email Field
Fill then blur to trigger validation

    Workflow sequence:

    1. Fill: #email-input → user@example.com
    2. Blur Element: #email-input
    3. Wait for Element: .validation-success (or handle error)
    Example 2: Close Autocomplete
    Select option then close dropdown

    Workflow sequence:

    1. Fill: #city-search → "New Y"
    2. Wait for Element: .autocomplete-item
    3. Click: First autocomplete option
    4. Blur Element: #city-search
