Getting Started with AI Browser Agent

    Quick Start

Start your first AI-powered browser automation session

    Prerequisites

Cloud Browser — nothing to install

Runs on our Cloud Browser need only your account. If your own Chrome isn't connected, the agent uses the Cloud Browser automatically.

Your own Chrome (optional): Prompteryx Desktop + Prompteryx in Chrome

To run in your own Chrome profiles, install the desktop app, sign in to it, and add the Prompteryx in Chrome. Picking a Chrome profile while they aren't connected opens a short setup guide.Download and install.

    AI Credits

The AI Browser Agent uses AI credits for each action. Your balance shows in the "AI Credits" pill in the page header.

    Your First AI Browser Session

    1
    Launch the AI Browser Agent
In the app, press AI Browser Agent under the message box (or just ask for something that needs a website). For the full-page agent, press Open the full agent on the home, or go to /AI-browser-agent. The header shows a "Cloud Browser" badge when the agent will run in the cloud. With a Chrome profile selected, it shows the connection status instead — "Connected" confirms both Prompteryx in Chrome and Desktop app are working.
    2
    Configure AI Vision (Optional)

Select the AI Vision quality preset from the dropdown in the header (or per run in Run settings). Higher-quality presets give better accuracy on pages with small elements but cost a little more per step.

    • Prompteryx models (Prime, Swift, Core, Prime+) - Adaptive, Low, Medium or High
    • Other models - Adaptive, plus nine presets from Ultra Saver (cheapest) to Max Precision (sharpest)

The AI Vision quality selector open in the toolbar, showing presets with a per-step cost meter
The AI Vision selector in the header — each preset shows its relative per-step cost.
    3
    Choose Where It Runs

Pick a browser profile from the profile selector in the header: a Cloud Profile (the Cloud Browser) or one of your Chrome Profiles (needs the desktop app). Profiles allow you to use different logins, cookies, and browser settings for different automations.

    4
    Enter Your Prompt

Type a natural language instruction in the input box. Be specific about what you want the agent to do.

    Example prompts:

    • "Go to amazon.com and search for 'wireless headphones'"
    • "Navigate to linkedin.com and extract the first 5 job postings for 'software engineer'"
    • "Open gmail.com and compose a new email to test@example.com"

    5
    Watch the Agent Work
Press Enter or click Send. On the Cloud Browser, the live view beside the chat shows the agent navigate and interact with the page in real-time; on a Chrome profile, a Chrome window opens (controlled by the desktop app). The chat shows each action the agent takes.
    6
    Continue the Conversation
Once the agent completes a task, you can give it follow-up instructions. The agent remembers the context of the conversation and can continue from where it left off. For example: "Now filter by price under $50" or "Click on the third result".

    Session Controls

    Your Help Needed
When the agent hits something it needs you for, it pauses with "Your help needed". Do the step in the browser, then click "I've done it — continue" (or Stop).
    Stop
While the agent runs, the Send button becomes Stop (Esc works too). Stopping keeps the browser open, so you can send a correcting instruction and the agent carries on from there.
    End Chat
End the session and finalize any recording (on the Cloud Browser this also closes the cloud browser). The chat becomes read-only and stays in your chat history for reference.
    Refine in Visual Studio
Convert the agent's recorded actions into a reusable Visual Studio workflow (the button in the chat's status bar shows how many actions were recorded). Run it without AI credits.
    Pro Tips
    • Start with simple, clear instructions before adding complexity
    • Use the Prompteryx in Chrome sidebar's "Current Tab" mode to automate on a page you've already navigated to
    • Enable video recording (paid plans) to get a full visual trail of the session
    • Check the chat's AI CREDITS counter in the header to monitor credit usage
