    Check & Uncheck Nodes

    Browser Node

Control checkbox and radio button elements

    Overview

The Check and Uncheck nodes allow you to interact with checkbox and radio button elements in forms. They ensure the element reaches the desired state regardless of its current state.

    Available Nodes

    Check Checkbox
Ensure a checkbox or radio button is checked
    Parameters
    Configuration options for this node
    selector
    Selector
    Required

CSS selector or Playwright locator for the checkbox/radio

    Example: #agree-terms, input[name='newsletter'], getByLabel('Accept Terms')
    force
    Boolean

Force check even if element is not visible

    Default: false
    selector_fallbackEnabled
    Boolean

Enable automatic fallback to alternative selectors

    Default: true
If the checkbox is already checked, this node does nothing and succeeds.
    Uncheck Checkbox
    Ensure a checkbox is unchecked
    Parameters
    Configuration options for this node
    selector
    Selector
    Required

CSS selector or Playwright locator for the checkbox

    Example: #marketing-emails, input[type='checkbox'][name='promo']
    force
    Boolean

Force uncheck even if element is not visible

    Default: false
Uncheck only works on checkboxes. Radio buttons cannot be unchecked directly - select a different radio option instead.

    Usage Examples

    Example 1: Accept Terms
Check the terms and conditions checkbox
    Node: Check Checkbox
Selector:getByLabel("I agree to the terms and conditions")
    Example 2: Select Radio Option
    Choose a shipping method
    Node: Check Checkbox
    Selector:input[type="radio"][value="express"]
Example 3: Opt Out of Marketing
    Uncheck pre-selected marketing checkbox
    Node: Uncheck Checkbox
    Selector:#receive-marketing

    Verification Nodes

    Is Checked?

Returns a boolean indicating whether a checkbox/radio is currently checked. Use this before conditional logic or to verify state after an action.

    Assert Checked / Assert Unchecked

Fail the workflow if a checkbox is not in the expected state. Use these for validation in critical workflows.

    Custom Checkboxes

    Styled Checkboxes

Many modern UIs hide native checkboxes and show styled replacements. If Check/Uncheck doesn't work, try:

    • Clicking the label element instead of the input
    • Using force: true to interact with the hidden input
    • Clicking the visible styled element directly

    Best Practices

    Use getByLabel for Better Reliability
Playwright's getByLabel locator finds checkboxes by their label text, which is more stable than targeting the input directly. Example: getByLabel("Subscribe to newsletter")
    Verify State After Checking
Add an Is Checked? or Assert Checked node after important checkbox interactions to verify the action succeeded, especially in forms with JavaScript validation.
